Frequently Asked Questions

Below we have listed some frequently asked questions from customers about The Equiscan and how the process works. If you have any queries not answered below, feel free to get in touch with our team via the live chat or using the contact form.

  • What is the Equiscan?
The Equiscan is a revolutionary, non invasive, complimentary form of analysis. The Equiscan is performed using advanced DNA interpretation technology and acts as a worlds first support tool to conventional screening methods in the equine industry.
  • How does the Equiscan work?
The Equiscan uses state of the art technology, together with expert human analysis to identify the complex bioenergetic imbalances within your horses body. Through investigation of your horses DNA sample, complete body scanning down to a cellular level can be carried out, providing a holistic assessment of your horses key body organs. For more information on the Science of bioresonance, please see our page called ‘the science’.
  • How Accurate is the Equiscan?
The Equiscan method of screening uses the principle of Bioresonance. Bioresonance is a non diagnostic method of testing that works on its ability to investigate DNA and detect changes early on, making it an incredible preventative tool. Some of the worlds leading devices of energy medicine are used in order to analyse the DNA and conduct the screening. Results generated from the screening also includes expert human analysis and interpretation of findings therefore can vary very slightly. That said, most manufacturers of the systems we use claim an accuracy rate of between 80% to 85%.
  • How can the Equiscan report help me?
You may choose to share the report with your Vet, Nutritionist or other healthcare practitioner. Alternatively, you may wish to pursue a well being plan yourself. Either way, the report results can provide detailed insights into the state and functionality of your horses organs and help to identify the root causes of various conditions.  In being able to determine the origins of any given condition, you, along with your Practitioner can make more informed decisions regarding your horses health.
  • Can you scan for infections?
As part of the Equiscan test, an assessment of probable infections is also analysed within the relevant test region. For example, for the Gut Test, an assessment for infections including bacteria, parasites and viruses in the gut region is carried out, thus providing you with a truly holistic overview of your horses gut health.
  • Can the Equiscan analyse other parts of the body?
The Equum Clinic can offer bespoke Equiscan packages that can cover analysis of other key organs such as liver, kidney, bladder, brain, musculo-skeletal regions and more. Our aim is to bring a whole new concept of wellness initiatives to the equine industry and we want to develop this by listening to you and understanding your requirements. If you are interested in having an Equiscan performed on other regions of the body, please complete our contact form.
  • Do you offer a ‘whole body’ Equiscan?
We appreciate that often, owners may not know what is wrong with their horse and may want a ‘complete check’. The Equiscan is underpinned by cutting edge technology and specialist expertise that allows us to analyse the body through DNA samples. This provides us with a tremendous capacity to investigate various organs and body regions associated with different diseases and traits. With this in mind, a ‘Total Equiscan’ Test covering all major organs of the body will be introduced soon.
  • How do I purchase an Equiscan test from you?
Tests can be easily ordered on our website and by the end of 2023, through other reputable stockists. Should you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to email us.
  • Where are the samples tested?
All Equiscan tests are carried out in the UK. Results are emailed typically within 10 days upon receipt of your DNA sample.
  • I don’t live in the UK .... Can I Order?
The Equiscan is available to anybody from anywhere across the world. The test procedure is very simple and the same as if you are based here in the UK. You will be provided with everything you need to take a blood sample including full instructions. All that is required is your horses DNA sample (blood and saliva). Because the DNA samples are dry and in a sealed plastic bag, they are not classed as a UN3373 infectious substance and are perfectly safe to send via post. Please note that pre-paid postage is only supplied to UK customers. If you are located outside the UK you will need to pay to return the pack.
  • When do I receive my Equiscan report?
DNA analysis is complex and we ask you to allow up to 10 working days from the time we receive your sample to receipt of results by email.
  • What happens to my sample after its been tested?
All samples received on behalf of The Equum will be disposed of via a clinical waste unit. Therefore, all samples will be used once for their sole purpose of testing. After the test is complete, all DNA samples will be immediately disposed of.
